Shopping for a mortgage is your right and I suggest that you do it (only with 1 to 2 other lenders).
However, you should be armed with details so that you know you are dealing with the Loan Consultant that will be able to fulfill your needs.
Below is how I conduct my business; feel free to ask if my competitors do the same (you will find the majority does not).

I try to attend every settlement for your support. Why should that matter? I do not like feeling alone, even more so, when it could be the biggest transaction of your life, I am there to make sure you are well taken care of.

I will put my money where my mouth is. I will give you $100 if I can not beat the deal you CLOSE. There are a few stipulations here: 1) I must receive last shot- only because the market can change by the second, I can not guarantee that rates did not get better in the days after we spoke (just trying to be fair for all)(just send me their 2010 GFE) 2)The deal has to close, not just be a quote. 3) You have to show me the completed HUD.
